BMW MOTORRAD SECUNDA – The Wild Side Tour is an exciting, facilitated tour introducing riders and 4×4 enthusiasts to the North-Eastern parts of Southern Africa into Mpumalanga, up the side of the Kruger National Park, and into the game farm areas of Bela Bela in the Southern parts of Limpopo. The perfect opportunity to not only see and experience our beautiful country but also improve your riding skills and expand your network of like-minded people.

What to Expect

The 4 day/3-night expedition will start and end at BMW MOTORRAD SECUNDA travel through Mpumalanga and Limpopo via some of the most beautiful mountain passes and bush areas you may never have visited before.

Two guides and a support vehicle will accompany you over the 1450km expedition and  Green, Orange and Red route GPS tracks will be provided to you for download onto your Garmin GPS’s or mobile App device. The green & Orange routes are pillion friendly if riders are experienced and the lodge accommodation is both comfortable and welcoming. Enjoy an included breakfast and dinner to start and end your day of adventuring.

You can expect to be challenged and your riding skills taken to the next level, but we guarantee an experience you’ll be talking about for long after the trip is over.

Itinerary

Day 1Secunda to Tonteldoos - 335 km

Registration, coffee, and a muffin at 08:30 am – clutch out at 09:00am sharp. Traveling via Bronkhorstspruit and the Loskop Dam nature reserve, with a lunch stop in a little area know as Kranspoort. After lunch, we continue heading east passed Stoffberg and ending the day in Tonteldoos.

Day 2Tonteldoos to Hoedspruit - 292 km

Breakfast at 7.30am – clutch out at 8:15am sharp. Heading towards Lydenberg then up and over the Long Tom Pass. On arrival in Sabie, we will stop off at the famous Woodsmans Resturant for coffee and a light snack. From here the tracks will split, with the Orange and Red following the Sabie river up north near the Kruger fence cutting through many fenced game farms, and the Green heading towards Graskop then through the breath-taking Blyde River Canyon area.  After all the distance traveled today, everyone will end off in Hoedspruit.

Day 3Hoedspruit to Moogophong - 478 km

Breakfast is at 7:30am –  at 8:15am sharp.  Heaps of exciting mileage to cover today. ​We cut through the middle of the Lourene Game Reserve stopping off at the old bush street town of Leydsdorp Hotel for a coffee. Further on you will have the opportunity to stop off at the Letaba Junction, whilst sitting on the deck looking over the Letaba river watching the Hippos and crocs swim by. From here we head up into the majestic Magoebaskloof mountains. Lunch will be in Haenertsberg. After lunch we pass through the Zion Moria area just outside Polokwane then through Zebediela behind the Doomdraai Dam Nature Reserve onto the Mhara Lodge close to Mookgophong.

Day 4Moogophong to JHB - 239 km

Breakfast is at 8am, followed by a game drive and a visit to the exclusive wild cat enclosures before we leave the Lodge – then clutch out at 10am. We will be traveling mostly on tar, through the Waterberg mountain range, Moogophong and the holiday resort town of Bella-Bella. Shortly after that we will be passing Hammanskraal and heading home towards JHB.​

  • This is a perfect opportunity to improve your riding skills and strengthen your network with like-minded people.
  • The Expedition will start & finish at BMW MOTORRAD SECUNDA 
  • The adventure is based around the Northern regions of South Africa.
  • This will be open to all makes of Dual-purpose roadworthy motorbikes and 4×4 enthusiasts that would like to experience the beauty of the majestic mountain ranges and bushveld we will be traversing.
  • The package includes dinner, bed, and breakfast
  • Tour package based on a minimum of 16 pax, Maximum 24 pax, 2 guides, and a support vehicle driver.
  • Due to space constraints, the budget is based on sharing ONLY.
  • Space is limited due to accommodation availability

Travel/Tracks & Safety:

  • The green & orange routes will be pillion friendly for those with experience and due to time constraints, we will need to travel on some tar and district gravel roads so please ensure that your skill levels are up to the challenge.
  • We will have Green, Orange, and Red track options
  • The green route will mainly stick to tar roads as much as possible however you will need to travel on a short dirt section at some point.  The Orange track will be on mostly district gravel roads. The Red track will be a combination of tar, district gravel roads, and some challenging singletrack. You are guaranteed to have lots of fun out in the mountains at this time of the year.
  • All the tracks will be available in a GPX format to be downloaded onto your Garmin device and mobile device app.
  • There will be 2 guides on bikes and a support driver/guide assisting and facilitating the ride between lodges.
  • We will have 2 level – 2 First Aiders with us that will be able to assist in case of any mishaps along the way. However, the local ER24 medical providers will be informed of our presence.
  • The total distance to travel will be Est 1320km
  • You can trailer to the BMW MOTORRAD SECUNDA – and park your vehicle/trailer there at no charge in a secure environment whilst we are away.
  • We will have vehicles/trailers available to assist in the transport of your luggage if you have a pillion. All riders are expected to carry their own luggage. 
  • Please inform the Guide of any medical conditions you might have.
  • All items should be packed in a weather/dustproof covering.
    It is advisable to pack some snacks for during the day.
  • A hydration pack is recommended whilst out on the bike.
  • Bring along sun protection and required medication.
  • The support vehicle will carry 2x 20Lt fuel containers.
  • All items are to be clearly marked or labels attached.
  • Luggage size will be gauged on what you would normally carry on your bike so no more than 40lt in volume p/p.
  • You will receive a welcome response with banking details once we have received your online registration. The full amount must be paid on receipt of this email. 
  • The full itinerary will be mailed to you along with the GPX track on registration and deposit receipt.
  • No Deposit or payment paid will be refundable if you wish to cancel after the 16th May 2022
